Do liberal wives donate to prostate cancer research or just breast cancer

Do liberal wives donate to prostate cancer research or just breast cancer? Do they have dads, sons, ...?
... and husbands? (Prostate cancer kills 1/2 as many men as the number of women that breast cancer kills)

Perhaps if men were not such wimps about getting their prostates examined the death rate would decrease. And yeah, I donate to all sorts of cancer research.
2 :
You actually have a good point and one I have thought about many times. Not particularly happy with the way you put it, implying that only liberals display this hypocricy. It is a clear case of reverse sexism. Won't make you any friends though, complaining ("what, you are against trying to cure breast cancer?"). You will get the argument that breast cancer tends to strike women at a younger age than prostate cancer strikes men, which is true, so it isn't strictly a sexist cause from that aspect. Nevertheless, concentrating on the one issue while ignoring the other when both are serious problems says an awful lot to me.
3 :
There are very effective treatments for prostate cancer, but you have to be screened. Men don't like to go to the doctor.
4 :
Liberals do not donate, and their wives really don't, it is difficult to understand since they want everything for nothing but they just simply refuse to give!!

what are the chances of a teenager gettin prostate cancer

what are the chances of a teenager gettin prostate cancer?
wat r the chances of a teen gettin cancer in the prostate

Never heard of any cases. Is there a reason your asking this- are you experiencing any symptoms?
2 :
It is a disease that affects older men, maybe past 30 in rare cases most often near 40. Your lifestyle and whether your family has a history of it are the main things, eating rich/spicy foods are a factor for getting it that much I know
3 :
The chances are slim to none. I am a cancer registrar and have never seen a single one.
4 :
if its a girl zero...if a guy chances are unknown. prostate ca is usually a very slow developing ca, usually getting men in their 50's or later. But it can strike young men also and then there are some types that grow very very quickly so the answer is who knows? if it is you that is concerned then get a PSA blood test

There is absolutely no evidence that would indicate such. So....no.
3 :
No, never heard of that before.
4 :
No, there is NO exercise or activity that can cause any kind of cancer, so don't worry about it at all!
5 :
There has been no evidence that proves it...but you do want to alleviate the stress on your "under area" to be safe for future little ones...so have some shorts with padding...you can purchase those at any bike store:) they also help out to prevent chafffing and bruising if your ride a lot or haven't in awhile.

Prostate cancer and Masturbating

Prostate cancer and Masturbating?
I recently heard that there is some kind of connection between prostate cancer and masturbating. The study showed that men who masturbated frequently in their 20s and 30s had more of a chance of getting Prostate cancer. Is any of this true? Is there any concern here as far as that goes with the masturbating and the increased risk of Prostate Cancer?

According to the study, yes. I read the study as well. Men who masturbated frequently in their 20s and 30s (more than once a week I think it was) were at a higher risk, whereas men in their 40s and 50s seemed to benefit from it.
2 :
I don;t believe it. Most guys masturbate at least 3 times a week. Also, from the body's point of view, what's the difference between masturbation and intercourse? Nah! It's rubbish!
3 :
There have been hundreds, possibly thousands of studies done on prostate cancer but so far medical science hasn't discovered what causes it. The only real correlation they've discovered is, the older a man gets the more chance he has of getting PCa. Not much of a consolation but that's all they know so far.
4 :
Here's a study that says it's bad. http://www.livescience.com/health/090126-masturbation-prostate.html Here's a study that says it's good. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn3942-masturbating-may-protect-against-prostate-cancer.html

Can you get prostate cancer at 18

Can you get prostate cancer at 18?
I am 18 years old, and i have being experiencing difficulties with urinating. For instance, i have to wake up 2 to 3 time in the middle of the night to urinate. When i was reading about it a bit more, i found out you can experience back problems too which in fact is true in my case because my lower back has bin hurting for more than a month now and no signs of improvement. I also have problem while urinating. Is there any more signs that i should look for?

You may have an urinary tract infection, or a kidney infection, not necessarily cancer, even though you can get cancer at any age. Either way, you really need to see a doctor. Even if it's just an infection, you will need treatment to get over it. Check out www.webmd.com, a very helpful website to find out about symptoms for about any problem. I hope you get better really soon. Lizzie
2 :
If this has been going on for a month you should see your doctor. Whilst reading symptoms on the web can give you an idea of what may be wrong it can also cause so much worry thinking have I got this or have I got that. Take a sample of urine to you doctor and he will e#be able to do some simple tests immediately with a test strip and will be able to see if you have an infection etc. Depending on what he finds he will then proceed with either a simple prescription for antibiotics or further tests if this is necessary. Good luck and remember although you can get any type of cancer at any age prostrate cancer affects mainly men over 50 and is more common the older they get.
3 :
Prostate cancer is so rare in young men that there are no statistics available for the disease incidence in men under 35. It's extremely rare in men under 50; over 80% of men diagnosed with it are over 65 and half of all cases occur in men over 75. So you almost certainly don't have prostate cancer. You need to see your doctor about the symptoms you describe; just because it almost certainly isn't cancer doesn't mean it doesn't ned to be checked out and treated if necessary

No maturbation is harmless
2 :
masturbation, if anything, is healthy for your prostate. It keeps things flowing through it! No, it definitely does NOT cause cancer.
3 :
Masturbating is the way to keep your prostate in a healthy state, since seminal fluids are produced there and must be released frequently.Sort of flushing it. And it certainly does not cause cancer it only prevents it. Sky.
4 :
actually studies have shown that guys who have regular orgasms have a much loiwer risk of prostate cancer. Whiel the study on followed guys starting from their 20's upward it may well be a good thing to start earlier.
5 :
Hi Alex There is no connection between masturbating and prostate cancer. Unfortunately as all of your water works and sex organs are all interlinked the prostate infection can be through the penis and affect the prostate that way. So it could develop from a urinary tract infection that you were not aware of. Masturbation helps the prostate when it enlarges in older men as the release of semen makes it easier for them to urinate. The prostate is just below the bladder and it squeezes on to the urethra, (tube in the penis) and slows the flow of urine. After masturbation when there is less semen in the prostate the flow of urine improves. So sex later in life is good for men. Regards Andy

Decision on prostate cancer treatment

Decision on prostate cancer treatment?
My brother is 54 yrs old and was just diagnosed with prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 5. His PSA was 4.25. The biopsy showed that he only had traces of cancer on the right side of his prostate and it was limited to that area. He is in excellent health and very active, and has not shown any signs of any urinary problems. He is considering the treatment option of "watchful waiting". What are your thoughts on this vs possibly robotic surgery? Some doctors prefer surgery when the patient is this young. Thanks for your inputs on this.

1 :
Is there any prostate cancer in your family? I think there are many other tests that should be ran with that level of PSA. My first question is: does he have an enlarged protate? A simple urine test can determine if there is a urine tract infection. Either of these can account for a higher level of PSA, which is benign, but the latter can also be cancerous. Once this is decided, the doctor needs to rule out an infection of either the prostate, urethra, bladder or kidneys by using ultrasound. Once these have been ruled out, a biopsy can be performed, usually with a needle. At this point, you should be more informed and know what to do next. I wouldn't let it go, I would have tests ran and if need be, get the biopsy.
2 :
I am a little older than you brother, and my PSA runs "slightly " high, and I have been told, one year I might develop prostate cancer. My feeling just might be ,. "operate and get it the hell over with."
3 :
Watchful waiting is usually done in the case of older men where surgery may be risky due to other health problems. For a 54 yr old surgery is probably a better option. As you mention robotic surgery this is a good option because the recovery would be faster than traditional open surgery. Talk to the surgeon and find out about the surgery, the risks vs. benefits before you make a decision. Good luck!
4 :
Urologists are surgeons and will push robotic surgery. That is old school. Look into seed implantation. Do not do watchful waiting, in my opinion. This is where I went: http://www.dattoli.com I was diagnosed at 49 with no symptoms.
5 :
I was 59 and elected the surgery. The PSA is only valuable if you have a base line. Mine went from 1.5 to 4.5 in a year. You mentioned Gleason of 5 mine was 8. The Biopsies did not show all of my cancer. After they removed it they found cancer in more areas that the biopsies missed. I had the surgery last July and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Recovery time is a pain. However any treatment other than surgery gives it a chance to spread. If it's contained in the prostate and you remove it it's gone. I've had 2 PSA test since surgery and both were 0 Yeaaa. Doctor said has to stay 0 for 4 years to be cancer free/
6 :
First: what is the stage of his cancer? Is it T1c? Or is it palbable? What previous surgery has he had? Careful with robotic. There's a lot of hype out there. Focus on the surgeon, not the machine. And you're doing a good thing by supporting him. It's important and helps with the anxiety.
7 :
Print and give to bro.Tell bro to watch and wait.Do not rush into any treatment. What is suggested below is almost a cure.Do the exercises as suggested and you will notice improvement in the third (maybe second) PSA test onwards. Cancer hates oxygen and cannot live in a high-oxygen environment. If you want to supplement the medical treatment you receive(or not receive) with some alternative therapy then this is for you. You need to help your body to build up your immune system. The breathing exercises - pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the health problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits.Build up your timing slowly and after four weeks at the suggested maximum duration you will start to notice benefits gradually. What is known:Do the pranayam and reap the health benefit. How it works in the body is not known รข€“ but people may build their own theory. The small print: Keep doing pranayam after you are better for minimum 30 minutes a day for rest of life to maintain health. People who have been treated successfully, should do pranayam as well, as there is a chance of recurrence. Monitor your conditions/results regularly and it will help you and others observe the progress.List existing conditions with any levels/numbers time spent on toilet seat,weight,BP,dental/eye/ear conditions including eye prescription numbers, sleep problems, blood results etc. The pranayam techniques: Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes. Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently. Anulom Vilom - Deep Breath-in through left nostril keeping right nostril closed then - Breath-out through right nostril keeping left nostril closed then -Deep Breath-in through right nostril keeping left nostril closed then - Breath-out through left nostril keeping right nostril closed and repeat this cycle for upto 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 min/day). Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee. Duration : 5 to 10 times Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to improve your technique and stay focused. This is simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life, unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.

With a Gleason Score of 5 and a PSA of 4.25, "Watchful Waiting" or "Active Surveillance" as it is also called, is a valid choice. prostate cancer is a very slow growing cancer. Many men rush into treatment as soon as they are diagnosed because they fear that the cancer has spread outside the prostate and they want to contain it. Your brother has time and his age on his side. Use this time to become informed about the disease, the treatments available, and the side-effects of those treatments. Active Surveillance requires careful monitoring of PSA levels and further biopsies to determine the rate of growth of the tumor, do not make the mistake of ignoring the problem. As long as the tumor is organ confined and slow growing there is no need to take action. Robotic Surgery is an excellent choice for your brother given his age and his general good health, when he is ready for it. In the hands of a very skilled surgeon the outcome can be superior to the traditional surgical approach. The key is finding a surgeon who has done hundreds of these procedures, the learning curve for Robotic Assisted Surgery is very high, and the best results with minimal side-effects are with the Doctors who have the most experience.
