Well, that's kind of a tough question because at this point in time, nobody knows what causes cancer, much less what cures it. That being said, there are several things that are very good for general prostate health that many people may take to help combat it (but that's more of hopeful thinking than scientific proof). There's Saw Palmetto, Stinging Nettles (the root, not the leaves), Pygeum, Pumpkin Seed, Glycine, L-Alanine, L-Glutamine (or Glutamic Acid), Beta Sitosterol, Lycopene, Selenium, and Zinc.

A new study shows that limiting dietary fat to 20 percent of calories and eating three heaping tablespoons of whole flaxseed every day can significantly slow down prostate cancer growth. The study was conducted on men who were scheduled to have their prostates removed due to cancer, but this surgery often results in nerve damage and has about a 50 percent chance of permanent impotence. The men who ate the whole flaxseed/low-fat diet retained sexual function as well as their drive. And, the longer the men stayed on the diet, the greater their tumor reduction. Their PSA levels, which are used as markers to indicate if someone has prostate cancer or accelerated tumor growth, didn't go down very much with the diet - but their cancers showed a higher rate of cell death and slower tumor growth when compared to historic tumor measurements of prostate cancer. If you want to increase your prostate health, there are several other things you can do in addition to lowering your fat intake and eating whole flaxseed. Supplements that increase testosterone levels or allow conversion of testosterone to DHT (a hormone that can spur prostate cancer growth) may be harmful, as higher hormone levels have been associated with prostate cancer growth. However, the herb saw palmetto has been shown to benefit prostate health without increasing testosterone levels. In fact, saw palmetto is even touted by the AMA and researchers at Harvard as showing great promise in the fight against prostate cancer, despite their more common stance against natural medicine. Another prostate cancer fighter is milk thistle, which we told you about in our June 1 eAlert. The spice curcumin (known as turmeric) has also been shown to kill prostate cancer cells, according to recent research at Columbia University. Saw palmetto, flaxseed, milk thistle, and curcumin are available at most health-food stores. These are relatively inexpensive supplements that can pack a powerful punch against prostate cancer.

There is a national study going on right now in several university medical schools around the country regarding pomegranate juice - Typically natural foods are not studied as it costs money and they don't get all the hype that drugs get. HOWEVER, POM, the makers of Pom pomegranate juice paid to have a study done and the results were astounding. 1/2 cup of pomegranate juice every day was found to 'deter the growth of prostate cancer substantially. It made the medical magazines. The study was done on 1/2 cup per day. Once it hits the medical books, the pharmaceutical companies jump on the band wagon. This one study at Berkley, and also University of Wiscosin started many other places doing their own studies. My husband had prostate surgery last year and has since taken 1/2 cup every day (no mixes - has to be PURE pomegrate juice). Too bad we weren't doing this as a habit. It also has many other benefits with cardiovascular system so really good for everyone. I take the pills since the juice is high in carbs and the study was NOT done with pills but only the natural juice. Natural juice is expensive so I just take the capcules every day. So far..... so good...... sure won't hurt anything to drink 1/2 cup a day. Many of my asian friends drink this every day as a matter of culture...... very interesting.......

Drink ALOT of green tea, it might cure the disease, but it probably won't, it will most likely slow the disease from spreading Asians have the highest percentage of people who smoke, which has been linked to cancer, while they have the lowest percentage of people who have cancer...why? Because of the green tea-that's all they drink, and it's in everything, plus it makes you live longer

Do a web search on "essiac tea" and "benefits of essiac tea". My girlfiends husband had some trouble with his prostate being enlarged and an alternative doctor prescribed this for him. It got him back to normal and is supposed to be excellent for cancer.

i do not understand the point here. If herbal formulations were effective we would have used them, and known about them. but at the same time our environment is different now than it was a century ago(more pollutants) so the cancer rates are higher. you need cancer medication, pharmaceutical medication, Period. http://www.Drugstoregenerics.com
