You could have pain in your harse or you can't pee strongly, just dribbles. Or, blood in your urine. Go to you doctor and have him stick his finger up your rear and check for a limp. As with most cancers there is no know real cause.
2 :
Start with a good Doctor and get a PSA. If elevated you need a biopsy. CT Scans normally won't detect prostate cancer.
3 :
"how will i know i have prostate cancer?" See your gp. "how do you get prostate cancer?" Google.com "Causes of prostate cancer".
4 :
are u searching it in yahoo ???? you chosed the best place.
5 :
I do not know how you get prostate cancer, but with a visit to a Urologist you can find out. The most important thing the doctor can first do is a DRE or Digital Rectal Examination. Next is a blood test to determine your PSA. These tests can determine if you have prostatic cancer.

Best doctor and best treatment for prostate cancer.

Best doctor and best treatment for prostate cancer.?
I am diagnosed Prostate Cancer by high PSA.PSA is 5 and I am 58 years old. I am worried a lot. How to find the best doctor who will give me best possible cure will know all experimental options available? I called University Hospital and they gave me appointment on 27th sept,07 which is one month later and this is not right. I feel I should have biopsy as soon as possible and if tumor is still localized ,then it should be removed as soon as possible. There are so many doctors and so many treatments. Every one is saying that he is the best and have best results. I am confused and my life and future is at stake. Can somebody guide me how to pick the best doctor and best procedure and most importantly what you will do if you are in my place? Also what kind of diet ,exercises and non medical measures will help. I have a wife and five kids and they all are worrying equally. Sorry for trouble and thanks for the possible help.

In general, you have time as Prostate Cancer is mostly slow growing, but that is no reason to not go after it. Have the Biopsy by an automatic machine. No pain. There are a number of treatments for Prostate Cancer. My choice was to have it surgically removed. That was 12 years ago. There are problems with this as I have incintinence, and erection problems. But I am Alive and wouldnt change a thing. The Surgeon said they got it all. After 12 years I believe him. I manage with the side effects.

If you haven't had a biopsy then I don't know how they could have said you definitely have prostate cancer. There are other things like BPH that can cause a high PSA. I know this is very scary because my husband and I have been through it. He didn't have a very high PSA but it doubled in a years time so that alerted them to a possible problem. They told him there was only a 6% chance that is was malignant but they did the biopsy to be sure. Unfortunately, it was cancer. He was 50 at the time and chose to have a radical prostatectomy and have the prostate removed. He also had 33 radiation treatments because his PSA was still showing a minute amount. That has been almost 10 years ago and so far so good. All in all from the time he was diagnosed to the time of his surgery it took a couple of months. I was like you and was worried about the time it took but doctors assured us that it was a slow growing cancer and it would be okay. I still worried but it did turn out okay. Not knowing where you are I can't recommend a doctor but I will say "do your research." The outcome, especially if you go the surgery route, will depend in a large part on your doctors expertise. The urologist that diagnosed my husband had only done the surgery a few times as he was a young doctor (I asked how many times he had done it.) We asked around and did research and found a doctor in Memphis, TN. that had done the surgery over 1000 times. He was great and my husband did great. Go to your local library and get everything you can on prostate cancer. Get on the internet. Educate yourself. My husband's surgeon said he had two types of patients-the kind that came in informed and knew what they wanted and the kind that didn't want any details at all, just tell them what to do. It's your life and you owe it to yourself and your family to be informed. Honestly, a PSA of 5 is not that high so hopefully it is localized cancer and can be taken care of easily. If you haven't had a biopsy yet you might even get lucky and it turn out to be something benign. I wish you the very best and keep the faith!

www.pcref.org/newly_diagnosed.php DO YOUR HOMEWORK. PROSTATE CANCER IS USUALLY SLOW GROWING AND AN IMMEDIATE BIOPSY MAY NOT BE THE BEST ANSWER..CONTACT DR.B
6 :
If your PSA was 5 that is not very high. Some men with aggressive prostate cancer have a PSA of greater than several thousand. It could be nothing more than a transitory spike in levels. For someone your age the normal PSA range is between 3.5 to 4.5 --- you are not much higher than normal. I am not a Doctor but my guess would be that another PSA test 3 to 6 months from now could yield more conclusive results. If it keeps going up it could be a sign that more diagnosis such as a biopsy is needed. If it goes down or is stable you will be near the normal range. As for diet and exercise use common sense. Good Luck -- remember that as of right now you are close to normal range for PSA. Try this link: http://www.psa-rising.com/

I have to agree with Bob, I wouldn't start panicking right away. My cousin's husband had a PSA of 11 and higher. He was really scared, but I sent him a book that told him what vitamins to take. After about 4 months his PSA was back to normal. The vitamins are Saw Palmetto berry extract oil: 160 mg twice daily, and Pygeum bark extract: 50 mg twice daily. Try not to worry to much it's really not good for your health. Just remember like Bob said you can't be diagnosed with prostate cancer just because your PSA was a 5. Try taking these vitamins not and you could be back to normal by the time you have your doctors apt.

A PSA of 5.0 is not especially high. Only a biopsy can tell if you actually have prostate cancer and sometimes they miss it. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 yrs ago. PSA was 4.7 after being at 2.5 range for many years. After much research I chose to have treatment at Radio Therapy Clinics of Georgia (rcog.com) because they specialize in prostate cancer treatment and have the highest DOCUMENTED cure rate and lowest DOCUMENTED side effect rate based on their follow-up on the more than 8000 men they have treated in the past 20+ years. My 30-month post implant PSA was 0.2 which is considered cured if it remains there for 10 years or more. I got there in 30 months and only have 7 & 1/2 yrs to go before I know for sure I am cured but I have had virtually no side effects. I was 67 yrs old when starting treatment. All cancer doctors say they are the best, but RCOG has records to prove they are

Any male can get prostate cancer, whether or not he beats his meat. Your not doing any harm besides lowering your sperm count. You do need to get over your addiction before you graduate to more serious forms of arousal and satisfaction.

Prostate cancer spread to bones

Prostate cancer spread to bones?
I took my father to the hospital for back pain and leg weakness and was told it is prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. Spine, hips, legs, ribs, shoulders etc. they have done radiation on his spine and surgery to releive the pressure causing leg weakness, and are treating him with hormones. What do yu think his life expectancy is? I am getting no where with doctors. He is in Palliative care at this time. What does it all mean?

Well....my dad also has prostrate cancer but they caught it so it is kind of just there. It hasn't spread but he has to get treatments every so often. About 232,000 men in the United States will learn they have prostate cancer this year. Early detection and improved treatment have led to longer lives after diagnosis. About 99 percent of patients with localized disease live at least five years. (MY dad has had it for almost 10 years now) Doctors can diagnose prostate cancer early before it has spread beyond the prostate gland or nearby tissue. When prostate cancer spreads, or metastasizes, it often goes to the bone causing pain. This occurs in more than 80 percent of patients with metastatic prostate cancer. The bone, with its rich blood supply, creates an environment for cancer cells to establish themselves.2 Bones normally regenerate, constantly breaking down and rebuilding. Cancer interferes with this process and may cause bone to wear away or grow too fast. Prostate cancer usually causes excess bone growth. Bone pain typically begins as a dull, continuous ache, which increases over time. It may seem more intense at night or with activity. Muscle spasms may occur as well. Prostate cancer may spread to the hips, spinal vertebrae, ribs or other bones. Cancer in the spine may put pressure on nerve roots. This can result in numbness and tingling in the arms or legs, weakness, paralysis or difficulty with urination or bowel movements. Always tell your doctor about new symptoms, even if they seem unrelated to your cancer. If you are experiencing bone pain, the doctor will likely look for spots where the cancer may have taken hold. Tests the doctor may order include X-rays, computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging, and a bone scan. A bone scan involves an injection of a radioactive agent specifically targeting bone. A scan showing "hot spots," areas of greater concentration, will require further investigation since arthritis and other conditions can cause similar images. Treatment goals for bone pain due to cancer include killing the cancer cells, improving survival and controlling the pain, which can help improve quality of life. The physician may order external beam radiation to affected bone, chemotherapy or hormonal therapy. Procedures may be recommended to prevent or repair fractures and drugs may be prescribed to slow bone destruction. Pain medications are usually ordered and a special type of pain relieving radiopharmaceutical therapy may be employed. This therapy is a radioactive agent that travels to the bone and provides a high local dose of radiation. This treatment is especially helpful if the cancer has spread to many sites. Palliative care is not the same as hospice care. The goal of palliative care is to relieve the pain, symptoms and stress of serious illness รข€“ whatever the prognosis. It is appropriate for people of any age and at any point in an illness. It can be delivered along with treatments that are meant to cure you. http://www.getpalliativecare.org/

I had a very similar experience. No, I was not the one who got prostate cancer but my uncle did. After my father died in a horrible car crash, I went to live with my uncle. My uncle loved me more then anyone and even though he was much older then my parents, I went to live with him. He had to get his prostate checked for cancer and they found it. He was pretty far into the cancer and by that point the cancer had spread to his bones, just like your father. My uncle was also treated with radiation and, he recovered. It wasn't likely that me uncle was going to recover but he did and right now he is cancer free. It really was a miracle. With your father, his life could go either way. It would end or he may recover. If he is doing well now after the radiation, there is a better chance he will make it. If now, after the radiation, he is not doing better, then most likely he won't make it. God will do the right thing. God bless you and your father and I really do hope that he recovers soon. you never know what the new year has in store for your father!

Firstly sorry to hear your news, it must be very difficult. I can't say how long he will survive with this, as everyone is different, hence it feels like you are getting nowhere with the drs. Ask to see a nurse specialist in prostate cancer - most hospitals have them in UK. They are excellent for advice, a listening ear and guidance. Palliative care really means the health care staff will do all they can to ensure a quality of life as far as is possible, and will help your dad with pain control as his condition worsens. They are also good support for the family. Cancer BACUP is also useful. Hope this has helped, and sorry I can't be of more help.
4 :
The prognosis for this is not good. There is no way that an outsider can estimate how long he might survive; hormone therapy may be helpful.

I am so sorry...I don't feel qualified to help, but I have to tell you this. There is Hope!! I recently met someone who has suffered with similar conditions for years. She has a file 6 inches deep. She recently was talked into looking into Seven+. Seven+ is a botanical product that was designed to help a father dieing of liver failure. Quite a story, anyway mrs. Carlson found instant relief in 1 day. It is chock full of anti oxidants, Omegas 3,6,7 and 9 the botanicals include Acai, Gac, Goji, Fucoidan, Mangosteen, Noni, as well as cultured water and others. It also has 70 times the Lycopene and helpful enzymes you find in any fruits. I have seen it change her quality of life overnite. It's worth a look. www.brolinforexfuze.iexfuze.net. They offer a free 7 day challenge so there's no risk. There's also a bunch of testimonials if you're interested. regards, Cary

What is the age that a man needs to be check for prostate cancer

What is the age that a man needs to be check for prostate cancer?

any age.... but I think its after 40. But there a test that they can do at home. oddly a enough if pee on a pregnency stick if it comes back postive they should go and get a physical.
3 :
When men go for their physicals their prostates are checked by the doctor each time. This is the reason for the doctor inserting a finger into the rectum and feeling the size of the prostate. If the doctor suspects anything then he will order more tests. Usually if the patient has a history of prostate cancer in the family he should pay more attention to it. Men with prostate cancer generally have no symptoms, especially in the earliest stages. This is why the screening is so important each and every time. Men should practice lifestyle young so keep their prostates healthy. The best way to do this may be through the diet. Men should consume large amounts of lycopene. Foods that contains this are; tomatoes, ketchup, watermelon, and grapefruit. Another way to approve the health of the prostate is through regular prostate milking. This refers to giving a massage to the prostate in order to cause it to ejaculate seminal fluid. Someone must put on a lubricated glove, insert their fingers into your rectal area, find the prostate, and gently stroke it along its sides. This will usually cause the prostate to initiate semen ejaculation and male orgasm, though it does not happen every time. Another reason as a man becomes more sexual aware of his body and what he enjoys, he enjoys anal play. :0) Be seeing you......
