never hard of stage 6.......maybe 4...............that ain't so good
2 :
There is NO stage 6 cancer of any kind.
3 :
There is no stage 6 in any cancer. Stage 4 is the final cancer, no treatment no prognosis just time to get things in order.
4 :
There is no stage 6. You may be confusing stage with Gleason score. 6 is a fairly common Gleason score, not that scary actually. Stage 4 prostate cancer (if that's the case) may be treatable with hormone therapy and/or chemo. In some cases, hormone therapy can stall advanced prostate cancer for many years. (Just visit the Yananow website to meet men who have been living for years with "stage 4".) But with today's medical knowledge, it would not be curable. Sometimes recurrent prostate cancer is called stage V, but this is not the norm. The staging is often expressed in a more nuanced way, the TNM system. For example, mine was T2c--on both sides, extending into but not through the capsule. If, on the other hand, you are talking about Gleason 6, this is usually a curable cancer, but the exact prognostics depend upon more factors than Gleason alone. Check out: http://www.ehow.com/how_5275952_estimate-prostate-cancer-cure-odds.html as well as the references I used, below.
5 :
There is no such thing as "stage 6" cancer. May I suggest that you consult an appropriate medical reference source to learn more about cancer, it diagnosis, and treatment.
6 :
I think there may be possible confusion here because I believe the individual Gleason readings are called 'stage' and the combined readings are called 'score'. JeremyB

Your prostate is found in the rectum. Men 25+ should have an exam once a year.
2 :
look here http://blog.generic-pills.name/prostate-cancer-what-are-the-symptoms/ and read this http://blog.generic-pills.name/prostate-gland/
3 :
your prostate is not in your rectum, but is felt through the rectal wall it is a gland shaped like a donut that surrounds the urethra of a male.sometimes when men age they will have problems voiding due to the prostate enlarging and squeezing the urethra. in this case the prostate can either be removed or reduced with surgery.there are also meds that will help reduce the size of an enlarged prostate
4 :
Only men can get prostate cancer. The prostate is a small gland connected to the male urinary tract. If you are a male, there is a simple blood test to determine if you are at high risk for prostate cancer. If you have a high PSA level further tests are necessary. If caught early this cancer is very treatable ... with good outcomes. If you are a male with any of those symptoms listed on that site ... see your doctor!!! NOW
5 :
Prostate cancer is cancer of the small walnut-shaped gland in men that produces seminal fluid, the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. For many men a diagnosis of prostate cancer can be frightening, not only because of the threat to their lives, but because of the threat to their sexuality. In fact, the possible consequences of treatment for prostate cancer — which include bladder control problems and erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence — can be a great concern for some men. If prostate cancer is detected early — when it's still confined to the prostate gland — you have a better chance of successful treatment with minimal or short-term side effects. Successful treatment of cancer that has spread beyond the prostate gland is more difficult. But treatments exist that can help control prostate cancer. Cancer is a group of abnormal cells that grow more rapidly than normal cells and that refuse to die. Cancer cells also have the ability to invade and destroy normal tissues, either by growing directly into surrounding structures or after traveling to another part of your body through your bloodstream or lymph system. Microscopic cancer cells develop into small clusters that continue to grow, becoming more densely packed and hard. The prostate gland is the small, walnut-shaped gland that surrounds the bottom portion ("neck") of a male's bladder and about the first inch of the urinary tube (urethra), the channel that drains urine from the bladder. It's located behind the pubic bone and in front of the rectum. The prostate's primary function is to produce seminal fluid, the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. Prostate cancer usually grows slowly and initially remains confined to the prostate gland, where it may not cause serious harm. But if left untreated, prostate cancer can begin to invade tissues and cause damage, and it may spread to others areas of your body where it can cause significant harm. Some forms of prostate cancer are aggressive and can spread quickly to other parts of your body. What causes prostate cancer and why some types behave differently are unknown. Research suggests that a combination of factors may play a role, including heredity, ethnicity, hormones, diet and the environment. You can get more details from several web sites. Now you can get authentic informations from the following website -

Prostate cancer is cancer of the gland that is located on both sides of the urethra tube. You should have a blood test called A PSA. If high, you need to have a biopsy done. If you do have cancer, it is a slow growing cancer. I had my prostate removed by a very good Urologist, and all of the cancer was removed. I am cancer free. I get a PSA test every 6 months to insure that my cancer has not metathesised.

About prostate cancer

about prostate cancer?
I heard that a former friend of mine has prostate cancer. He is 45 years old. Even though we are no longer friends, I still worry about them. I heard that prostate cancer almost always curable. Can anyone bottom line some information about prostate cancer to me?

1 :
Prostate ca is generally curable when it is localised with most patients living another ten years. Even when disease has metastasised it has a better prognosis than other malignancies with most living long periods of time to the tune of two-three years and more
2 :
Early stage diagnosis with advanced radical resection with minimal morbidity and mortality has improved survival and prognosis. Only need is Surgical expertise. Your friend is relatively young and should go for radical surgery at good center. You need to help him.
3 :
Prostate cancer is not almost always curable in most cases men die with the disease, but not from the disease as it is usually slow growing. The only chance for cure is to have the prostate removed. Your friend is very young for prostate cancer only about 1% occurs at 45 years old and younger people tend to have more aggressive disease. Without knowing the grade, the stage or what treatment was given it is impossible to give you a better answer. Dr.Gagan Saini is clearly no doctor.

I'm 37 male. What are the early signs of prostate and colon cancer? What are the main causes

I'm 37 male. What are the early signs of prostate and colon cancer? What are the main causes? ?
How and what should I do to prevent both of these illnesses.

The most common early sign of prostate cancer is suddenly needing to urinate more frequently than normal (this can also be a symptom of urinary tract and other infections) particularly, stopping urination but feeling that you haven't emptied your bladder. The commonest early sign of bowel/colon cancer is an alternation between diarrhea and constipation, other common early symptoms include abdominal pain, blood in stools and sudden weight loss. Neither disease can be completely prevented but it's thought that an active sex/ejaculation life may reduce concentrations of carcinogens in the prostate gland. Chances of developing bowel/colon cancer are shown to be reduced by including plenty of fibre (bran, wholegrain bread etc), fruit and vegetables in the diet, the recommended daily intake is 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day.

Is an enlarged prostatea a aymptom of prostate cancer

Is an enlarged prostatea a aymptom of prostate cancer?

yes go to doc
2 :
Causes, incidence, and risk factors The actual cause of prostate enlargement is unknown. It is believed that factors linked to aging and the testicles themselves may play a role in the growth of the gland. Men who have had their testicles removed at a young age (for example, as a result of testicular cancer) do not develop BPH. Similarly, if the testicles are removed after a man develops BPH, the prostate begins to shrink in size. Some facts about prostate enlargement: The likelihood of developing an enlarged prostate increases with age. BPH is so common that it has been said, "All men will have an enlarged prostate if they live long enough." A small amount of prostate enlargement is present in many men over age 40 and more than 90% of men over age 80. No risk factors have been identified other than having normally functioning testicles
3 :
no, not really, but it can lead to that type of cancer, check it out with your doctor.
4 :
It can be, but it does NOT always mean that you have prostate cancer.Sometimes it is a benign condition, which can be treated with drugs.
5 :
U better go have it checked out!
6 :
Honestly I do'nt know but if in doubt check it out . You are obviously concerned about it . do'nt risk it just bite the bullet & see the doctor then if there is cause concern they can get it early. At lest you are concerned enough to ask then to just wait . They say to women with their breast if they notice changes to check it out . The same should apply to men so plz take care & see your doctor God bless

Is prostate cancer awareness an impotant issue

Is prostate cancer awareness an impotant issue?

Win.
2 :
All cancer is an important issue.
3 :
Yes, the NHS is sneaking adverts into everything popular with men. Too many men die for not seeking medical advice. Edit - the penny drops. :-S
4 :
If left for too long, yes.
5 :
yes: but it is rarely advertise on tv unlike breast cancer maybe too many feminist protest against funding prostate cancer ads
6 :
I believe it is. I would like to see all forms of cancer obliterated, prostate cancer is no exception.
7 :
Yes. A lot of attention is given to breast cancer, but the cure rate for prostate cancer is much lower. I understand about 70% of breast cancer sufferers are cured nowadays, whereas only 44% of prostate cancer sufferers are cured.
8 :
Yes, it is cancer after all.
9 :
Prostate cancer awareness is an important women's rights issue, to be sure. Only 10% to 20% of penis is actually of usable quality for women, before even accounting for the effects of prostate cancer. Prevalence of this cancer diminishes the supply of quality penis even further, and obviously women are the most affected by this. Everyone should make it a priority to combat this condition, so that no woman is forced to compromise on the quality of her mate.
10 :
Yes it is. I do not begrudge the success that the breast cancer volunteers have had. The research into breast cancer does help all cancers. I was on seven different chemos at one time. Only one was approved for melanoma, the other six were approved breast cancer. It worked for 18 months, but alas my body couldn't handle the treatment. The mets all came back. There has not been a drug approved for melanoma in 20 years and those that are approved a total of 2, only work about 18% of the time.
11 :
Yes, on both counts: 1) Impotence is one possible side-effect of some treatments for prostate cancer, apparently; 2) If you value life, then it is important to promote research into men's diseases. Not as much research is done into men's diseases as into women's diseases, so the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer are not such as to encourage all men to get themselves checked (and treated, when found to have prostate cancer). We need more accurate diagnosis than the PSA test and Digital Rectal Examination, and we need more effective treatments that avoid side-effects such as impotence and incontinence.
12 :
What's prostate cancer?
13 :
Yes. And I know that you are going to complaina bout how Prostate Cancer reearch doesn't get as many funds. The reason why this is is because often times these Companies are non-profit. They take donations, and volunteers run the fundraising, bussiness, and everything else. Studies show that women are more likely to work for non-profit charities, wheras men are more likely to work at for-profit charities. Since more women volunteer and work at non-profit charities, more female charities get more funding. There is more women working at the Breast Cancer Funds than men. You can't go around complaining that male cancer research doesn't get enough awareness or funds if men are doing less to support it. Breast Cancer is only so big because the majority of the doners and vounteers are women. And most women donate to breast cancer research multple times in their life. Don't complain if you are not willing to take action. Your blaming women for something that is only happening because of men. Prostate cancer is getting less funds NOT because of women, but because men are not volunteering or donating as much. If men volunteered and donated as much as women, both charities would recieve equal funds.
