If caught early it is quite curable. If not it is hard to stop but can be slowed and sometimes stopped. Any doctor's office will have information on the subject.
3 :
Check out WebMD. It is slow growing but remember that Jerry Orbach who played Lennie Briscoe on Law & Order died from it.....

Do I have prostate cancer

Do I have prostate cancer?
I'm 16 and I think that I might have a tumor growing right behind my sac of balls. I found it a couple months ago and just left it alone without telling anyone, and now I think it has gotten bigger and it hurts when I touch it. i know that that's right where the prostate is. I researched a lot about prostate and I am WAYY too young to be having prostate cancer. Is it cancer? Am I too young? I'm really scared and I don't know how to tell my mom.

First, your prostate is not something that you can feel, without doing a rectal exam. Usually cancerous growths don't hurt (usually). You are however at the right age for testicular cancer. If you have noticed something that doesn't belong there, you need to get it checked out. It could be benign (non-cancerous) but then again it could be cancer. If you believe the growth is getting bigger then you need to get in to see somebody soon. Good luck to you!!
2 :
its a good idea to get it checked personaly though im not a doctor i doubt that you have cancer of the prostate at 16 yrs old relax take a deep breath tell your mum your a bit worried and feel her support you will feel so much better when she also says lets not worry...but we will check it out just in case and for good peace of mind..
3 :
no.. i'm sure you have what they call a "lithnode". ...i'm 100% sure the spelling is incorrect. ..i had one come up around my waist about a month ago... and that's the most painful thing... you should most definately go to the doctor and get you some antibiotics because those are most likely caused by bacteria or.. an infection somewhere in your body caused by.. an insect bit or some illness you've had recently. they usually come up around... that area... and sometimes you get the same things in your throat if you have a bad cold or something. until then... you MUST stop touching it. ...maybe even if you go to the doctor, you should tell him what i told you..

This is not at all prostate cancer. prostate is so high up . it can not be felt from outside. now let me alley your anxiety... it it is hurting.... you may be having some infection.. EPIDYDIMO-ORCHITIS... do one simple test... try to find out that does the pain increases on pulling your balls up or down... id it increases on pulling them down.. the diagnosis is sure.. well... as far as my experience says... what you should do now is to consult a good doctor. he will put you on antibiotic.. as far as i say.. Gatifloxacin or cefixime will do.. also take a light pain killer , a B-complex with zinc in it. keep the balls cool. avaoid hot water bath.. hope your problem should resolve in 1 week or so. if it still persist....get an ultrasound / doppler done.. i hope you will not require that.. regarding cancer... though testicular cancers are common in very young and very old age... but they are rare adn rare things seldom occur. and they dont even pain.... so my dear friend.. forget all this. still i would advice to consult any doc. i dont know which country u are in .. otherwise i could have prescribed u with something...
5 :
This is not prostate cancer. Your prostate is internal and you can't feel it from the outside. It is probably something common like a hydrocele, an infection or maybe even a hernia. Testicular cancer can occur in young men however so you should have a checkup as soon as possible.

You are absolutely correct!
2 :
I don't know who you have talking to, but neither one will happen. If you're going to get prostate cancer some time in your life, it won't be because you masturbate. It won't prevent it nor cause it. Everyone has cancer cells in their body. It takes a chemical reaction in the body's immune system to set them off. Many reason can cause cancer, but not masturbating.
3 :
masturbating is evil.
4 :
no study has ever firmly linked the two. the problem is when a man developes prostate cancer is it because he masturbated too much? is it genetic? would he have gotten it no matter what? there are too many variables for science to say for sure what the relationship is. for the moment all you have heard is wive's tales. in my opinion our bodies are designed to have sex. it doesnt know the difference between your hand and a woman. to it sex is only a set of reactions to stimulation. in my opinion it is far more harmful to force your body to be celebate rather than inducing it to do what it was designed to do anyway, but that is a choice you will have to make for yourself. there is no science out there to back up either claim. everything out there is just opinion.
5 :
Quitting masturbation is perfectly healthy, healthier, in fact, than continuing to masturbate. The only way it could be unhealthy is if you repeatedly stimulate yourself just short of climax and then stop, which of course you aren't planning on doing. You'll feel so much better when you stop! All the best to you.
6 :
I read a study done in australia that showed masturbation helped prevent prostate cancer. I have not read any study that showed the opposite and I am a sexologist.

Is it dangerous for a man in his late 60's to have some cancer cells on his prostate or is it common

Is it dangerous for a man in his late 60's to have some cancer cells on his prostate or is it common?
He said it's common, that it's a good sign it's not enlarged and will have a biopsy to get the details. How serious is it? Is it as common as he says and easy to treat if not enlarged? Will removing it if in very early stages be an effective solution?

It may well be common, as prostate cancer is one of the main causes of death for older men. That doesn't mean it's a good sign. So he should see a doctor right away, get tested and get professional advice.
2 :
It is very common for older men to develop an enlarged prostate which can then interfere with urinating. Cancer cells anywhere in the body are not normal and are positively harmful. Cancer of the prostate is one of the most common cancers for men (after lung cancer in smokers). If not treated the cancer is very likely to spread to other vital organs leading to premature death. The earlier it is diagnosed and treated the more likely the treatment is to be completely successful. Some prostate cancers can be cured with radio therapy whilst others definitely require surgery. Only a urologist experienced in prostate cancer can tell what is the best treatment method for any particular individual. Your man should definitely seek experienced advice which will, likely as not, include both an ultrasound and a biopsy test. If cancer cells are detected by the biopsy he should discuss the treatment and have an appropriate treatment started as soon as practicable.

Shoot for the Cure - Prostate Cancer

Shoot for the Cure - Prostate Cancer?
I woud like try and to start an event, with a name like, Shoot for the Cure, to raise money to fight prostate cancer. It would be something like a basketball tournament, I'm not sure at this point how it would work out exactly. But anyhow, I would also like to try to coincide my event with the Race for the Cure, so maybe after people finish their walk/run, they can come out to a basketball court nearby to participate in a basketball tourney So my questions: 1) Do you think people would be interested and support this? 2) Do you think the Komen people would take exception to the name, since it is similar and all? 3) Do you think the Komen people would take exception to scheduling the event on the same day? Well, this is an idea I've been tossing around for a while, and I just wanted to get some opinions. Alright, maybe the name isn't the best. Hoops for the Cure perhaps, I still like Shoot for the Cure better.

The first thing that title made me think of was ejaculation... I'm not trying to be dirty, just saying that's what it made me think of. I know that the prostate is a man thing, and it is 'down stairs.' I thought maybe you were trying to encourage people to donate sperm for investigative research or something. If you want to have this double meaning for your event, then it's a great title, if you want something more wholesome... think of something else. (Dribble for the cure - also a no no.)
2 :
I think this is a great idea, why wouldn't women want to support their men in the fight for a cure of prostate cancer. If you already have the people running and walking, you have a great base of people already. Prostate cancer needs more awareness for men to have themselves checked sooner and more often. I have heard men's group say they need to have what the breast cancer awareness has. By joining the two seems like a great partnership. Hope it comes to true someday.

There is a huge correlation with obesity and prostate cancer. It was on the news this week. The correlation is between body mass and prostate cancer was bigger than what medicine could do. Tell him the best thing for him to do is keep fit.
2 :
Being fit has not been proven to have anything to do with prostate cancer, but age does and 13 year olds do not get prostate cancer. Tell him he doesn̢۪t need to think about it for at least another 30 years.
3 :

The nutrition2000 site makes it sound like surcan is good for side effects. Since the food and drug administration doesn't have it anywhere on their site, I don't know that it is an approved US drug.
