Prostate cancer question

Prostate cancer question. . . .?
Is it true that if you had prostate cancer, you cant have sex anymore?

that is not entirely true. that being said it all depends on the treatment done or the treatment you are receiving Age is also a dependent factor
2 :
One patient I have known had his prostate removed thirty years ago and he reports to have had a very active sex life up until very recently (he’s now 85). Although following the procedure he has been unable to produce any ejaculate, he said that he always believed his orgasms were even more intense and no less satisfying. Go to this site for more information: prostatecancerandsex.com/. Good luck with everything....
3 :
prostate adds bulk to semen.. you can do sex but fertility is lost...
4 :
Not entirely true. One of the side effects from the treatments for prostate cancer, prostate cancer itself, and just an enlarged prostate (BPH) is erectile dysfunction. It is difficult to get an erection and therefore, difficult to engage in sexual penetration. There are medications that help with this... ahem...Viagra. Although, that is not a guarantee. Some men, over time, develop the ability to maintain an erection after their prostate cancer surgery. It isn't a large number, but it can happen.
5 :
Untrue. Radical prostatectomy (removal of prostate) can result in damaging nerves involved in erectile function. This, & urinary incontinence may result from this surgery. It's not a given. Additionally, over the past several years, newer, less invasive approaches have been developed for treating prostatic ca (seed implantation, TUNA, etc.).
6 :
It depends on the surgery. I had my prostate removed using the DiVinci robot in January and had sex 5 weeks later (but had to use Viagara). Bit by bit, all of the nerves are coming back. As the others have already pointed out, without a prostate, there is no more wet spot - there is no ejaculate.
7 :
If you have Proton Radiation it does not effect your sexual ability. Proton radiation is very different from conventional radiation.. I had it about 3 years ago and am fine.. Proton radiation has no side effects most of the time and about a 90 % cure rate.. I believe it is the very best treatment availavle to day.. better than all the others.. no side effects and as good or better cure rate.. there is a website called Proton Bob that tells about it > if you check the website be sure and read the Patient testimonial section.... Also there is a new book just out by af former Prostate Cancer patient called You Can Beat Prostate CAncer.. It was written by Robert J. Marckini.. and it is a really great book. Any one with prostate problems should read it.. It tells all about Prostate Cancer and then discusses all of the treatments available today in detail.. giving the pros and cons of each treatment.. it is a really good book... hope this helps
8 :
Prostate Cancer Surgery can have a severe and permanent impact on sexual performance, but determination and the right rehab methods will get a lot of it back if it is started within the first year after surgery. The key is to find a specialist who knows how to treat erectile dysfunction issues, prescribe the correct meds, and give you the right tools to get it back. A strong relationship with a dedicated woman will contribute to success. She will need to care about you and be patient while you are recovering. You will no longer have the ability to have quick one-night-stands with someone you meet in a bar, because a stranger will not care about you enough to work through your performance issues. Over time, sexual performance after prostate surgery will be sufficient to have a good sex life with a caring and dedicated woman. It will be sufficient to perform nightly if that is what she wants.

Prostate cancer question. please help

Prostate cancer question. please help?
a loved one has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. he is 54 and the cancer was caught at an early stage and his bone scan came back negative. he is overweight but i dont know if that affects anything. he is supposed to be having the prostate removed within two to three weeks along with radiation. i love this person and i want to know what his survival rates are for beating this and living a normal life again.

About 99.2 as it stands right now. Don't worry he is not going to die.
2 :
There is no way to answer you without knowing the stage. The doctor will go over this with him after surgery. In a man this young prostectomy is nearly always recommended.
3 :
If it is diagnosed early ca.prostate then Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy is the best option and prognosis is very good. From the date of diagnosis, prostatectomy patients experienced an overall survival rate of 15.7 years, which is closest to the expected survival of 16.2 years. Approximately 75% of prostatectomy outcomes were progression free for 10.6 years or greater. Recurrence free success rate is above 90%.

Prostate cancer...help

prostate cancer...help?
is prostate cancer for old men only or it may affect a 18 yrs old guy as well ? does it has any relation with anal pain (which is without blood during defecation ) ?

What is prostate cancer? Prostate cancer is a malignant (cancerous) tumor (growth) that consists of cells from the prostate gland. The tumor usually grows slowly and remains confined to the gland for many years. During this time, the tumor produces little or no symptoms or outward signs (abnormalities on physical examination). As the cancer advances, however, it can spread beyond the prostate into the surrounding tissues (local spread). Moreover, the cancer also can metastasize (spread even farther) throughout other areas of the body, such as the bones, lungs, and liver. Symptoms and signs, therefore, are more often associated with advanced prostate cancer. http://www.medicinenet.com/prostate_cancer/article.htm
2 :
Prostate cancer can affect anyone at any age. Blood during defecation should always be checked out, as colon cancer can also be a factor. If there is a tumor or a lump in there it could very well be the cause of the blood. A little bit of blood is normal if your stool is really hard, but if it's concerning you, please go and get a physical and bring this up with your doctor immediately. Good luck and take care!
3 :
Prostate cancer is so rare in young men that there are no statistics available for the disease incidence in men under 35. It's extremely rare in men under 50; over 80% of men diagnosed with it are over 65 and half of all cases occur in men over 75. No, anal pain and pain during defecation aren't symptoms of prostate cancer.
4 :
Prostate cancer is the third most common cause of death from cancer in men of all ages and is the most common cause of death from cancer in men over 75 years old. Prostate cancer is rarely found in men younger than 40. Examination should be done gently and with good lighting. It consists of external inspection, perianal and intrarectal digital palpation, abdominal examination, and rectovaginal bidigital palpation. Anoscopy and rigid or flexible sigmoidoscopy to 15 to 60 cm above the anal verge are often included. Inspection, palpation, and anoscopy and sigmoidoscopy are best done with the patient in the left lateral (Sims') position or inverted on a tilt table. In cases of painful anal lesions, topical ( lidocaine 5% ointment), regional, or even general anesthesia may be required. If it can be tolerated, a cleansing phosphate enema may facilitate sigmoidoscopy. Biopsies, smears, and cultures may be taken, and x‑ray examination ordered if indicated. Consult a gastroenterologist.

usually men over 50 but some 40+ year olds are affected- http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Cancertype/Prostate if you are worried about your condition see your doctor to put your mind at rest

My husband was dx with Pca at 42. His physician told him he also has a patient who is only 32 with the disease. I don't think that your symptoms and your age point to prostate cancer, however, I believe that you should seek medical attention. The bleeding could be as simple as a hemorrhoid. It could also be caused by colitis, diverticulitis or a po

Radioactive bud implants have good results. Depends on the size of tumor if surgical cure is indicated. Causes are same for all cancers-DNA replication errors accumulated over much time due to mineral insufficiencies.

Prostate cancer-in young male

prostate cancer-in young male?

I have checked my crystal ball, and indeed you will be dying. However, further vibrations tell me that you may be suffering from hypochondria, a non-fatal affliction of the intellect.
2 :
Eat raw broccoli. Raw broccoli (and carrots) cure cancer.
3 :
Vsq, Find another doc. At 31 years of age, your chance of having prostate cancer is about zero. Because you did not mention frequent urination or burning when you pee, it is not likely to be a urine or bladder infection, though the prostate might be where an infection could be found. If there were any RBCs in your urine, they could break up so that no intact RBCs would be seen microscopically, BUT the hemoglobin from the disrupted RBCs would give a dipstick positive blood (hemoglobin) test. There is a better dipstick which tests only 2 things - the presence of bacteria and the presence of WBCs. That dipstick should have been used. Is it possible that a sexual contact could have given you gonorrhea, which, if it happened, might produce a pus-like discharge within 1-3 days after exposure? Then again, the fever could have been caused by something else developing in your body.

My grandfather had prostate cancer We were all shocked to find it out & no one expected it. There was a lot of pain involved for him & he was sick from chemo He also had lots of trips to the doctor. He took chemo and had some sort of procedure done to keep his urethra open. The latter was performed almost as regularly as his chemo. He always valued life very much but I guess when he thought he was gonna die that yeah he took every second to live to the fullest. He moved in with us during treatment. No. I don't think enough is done for any cure research for any disease. No we just loved him with all our hearts like always. I have always felt sympathy for the ill. I hope so, but only time will tell.
