What is the inheritance of prostate cancer

What is the inheritance of prostate cancer?

i don't think you, a girl would need to worry about that...............................
2 :
Prostate cancer is not inherited. But EVERY man would eventually get prostate cancer if they lived long enough.
3 :
There is a genetic component and if you have relatives with prostate cancer you should be vigilant about getting yourself checked. My husband had it as did his father, grandfather and a cousin. It doesn't mean that you absolutely will get it if a close relative had it but you should be aware that you may have a higher than normal chance of getting it.

What would be the cause of an "abnomal" prostate test result other than cancer

What would be the cause of an "abnomal" prostate test result other than cancer?
My brother received "abnormal" prostate test results back. He has been referred to a specialist. Other than cancer, can anyone tell me what other causes could create this type of result. Thanks for your help.

prostate enlargement.
2 :
Since I had my prostate removed because of cancer, the only test that they perform on the prostate that comes back as abnormal is the PSA test. This test is done to detect cancer and if it is abnormal, the chance of cancer is very very high. If caught early, the survival rate is very high so don't get to upset in the beginning. Contact me for more information on my caner and my recovery if you want to.

no. fluoride is put in water to kill germs and " purify" the water we drink, so that the world wide population does"t have to buy bottled water. If it did,we would all have cancer and there would not de a living soul alive doday....
2 :
Fluoride in some animal models and human studies in **high exposure* doses has been shown to decrease gonadal function. However, the doses you are exposed to are not likely to have a real clinical effect. It is there primarily for dental health of course. The safety of it is supported by years of research. Most of the google hits for fluoride show up as "action" group sites who seem to think fluoride is evil or part of some conspiracy. I don't buy it, and believe the benefits outweigh the good based on current evidence. If you are concerned about it, you can always drink bottled water.

Is there an Alternative method to Radiation or Operation in treating Prostate Cancer

Is there an Alternative method to Radiation or Operation in treating Prostate Cancer?

Alternative Medicine - 3 Answers

Is the patient interested in living or just in making money for some quack? Living: surgery, radiation, possibly chemo, and some antibody therapies exist for prostate cancer. These provide the best chance of cure/remission. Making money for a quack: sure, there are alternatives all over the place. Please be sure your affairs are in order before attempting some of them though.
2 :
What Inverse_Mushroom_Cloud said is good.. Ive seen some people on here promote visualizing the cancer dissapearing as a possible cure, others will try to tell you to use homeopathy, maybe accupuncture.. All those paths will probably lead to death..
3 :
A lot of that answer really depends on how far along the cancer is. I would personally recommend consulting a good natural doctor so they can look at your specific situation. I can recommend several herbs that are good for Prostate health, but if you've already got full-blown cancer, they likely won't give enough nourishment to overcome it. I know there are lifestyle changes and treatments that natural doctors can administer (not the ones that were mentioned [bashed] by the first two answers, as those aren't intended to cure cancer). Make sure you also do your due diligence and do your homework on any method that's recommended, though... when it comes to cancer, there are a LOT of ideas out there and no one answer is better than all the rest. Good luck with everything!

Why does breast cancer get more support then prostate cancer

Why does breast cancer get more support then prostate cancer?

Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Because breast cancer is highly invasive and can kill the patient. Prostate cancer, on the other hand, most cases are subclinical and people often die due to causes unrelated to the cancer with the cancer found incidentally on autopsy.
2 :
Well for one, prostate cancer is much easier to diagnose and treat and cure than breast cancer. Prostate cancer can be detected by having a yearly blood test done to detect it. There is no such test for breast cancer. There are at least 2 or 3 very effective treatments for prostate cancer. Breast cancer is much more difficult to treat.
3 :
While Dr House and Andee are correct in their answers, I would also like to add that much of the support for breast cancer has come about through hard work and lobbying by breast cancer survivors and families and friends of those diagnosed. Women in general are more inclined to be open about health issues than men and prostrate cancer has been one of the "great unmentionables" until fairly recently. Men being pro-active about promoting prostate cancer research and awareness is the way to bring the two back into balance.
4 :
Because a group of women got together and made it so. The same sort of movement has started for prostate cancer.

How bad is prostate cancer

How bad is prostate cancer?
I just found out my dad has prostate cancer. =(
Cancer - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It's not as bad as other cancers.. it depends how advanced it is and how old your dad is... but generally men tend to die WITH the disease, not FROM the disease (i.e. it usually doesn't kill)
2 :
Its just like any other cancer. It just depends on how advanced it is when it is discovered, a person's overall health when they are diagnosed, and what kind of treatment they want to have. The most common procedure to deal with prostate cancer is to remove the prostate itself. That is sometimes followed by chemo and radiation. Google it and you can find all sorts of info. Best wishes to your family.
3 :
Did he have symptoms. or was it found because he did a PSA test? If he had symptoms that is not as good as discovery by PSA test. Although surgery was the most common way to deal with PC, it may be because most urologists are trained surgeons. I had PC and got radioactive seed implants. Much less invasive and almost immediate recovery. Google Brachy therapy
4 :
A macrobiotic type diet should help him. See Jean Carper's book "Miracle Cures". The info supplied here is NOT hocus pocus material, rather conclusions gleaned from actual studies. Such a diet can be combined with or without conventional treatment, if he prefers. Avoid "advice" from naysayers clandestinely or openly promoting pharmaceutical products. Macrobiotic diets are not products.
5 :
It varies. Generally it's not a wildfire like other forms of cancer you hear about. It's very common in older men (most men in their 80's have it but die from something else). There are tools on the web that can help you get a rough idea of the situation called the Partin and Han tables, as well as Uropredict. See "How to Estimate Your Prostate Cancer Cure Odds" at http://www.ehow.com/how_5275952_estimate-prostate-cancer-cure-odds.html for a guide to these tools and more. Bottom line? If caught early, prostate cancer is nearly 100% curable. And even when it's found too late for a cure, there are systemic treatments that can potentially work for many years, so that the cancer becomes a chronic but manageable disease, and the man lives out a normal lifespan and dies of something else. With colon and prostate cancer being on the rise in men,how important are they in the body

With colon and prostate cancer being on the rise in men,how important are they in the body?
As far as what their functions are.No plans on having them removed...
Cancer - 5 Answers

1 :
As far as having them removed? You can't live without at least part of your colon and taking out your prostate will cause problems getting an erection.
2 :
Very important. Even if you could remove the organs the patient would still be susceptible to cancer! It would just go to another organ !
3 :
Prostate has no much functional importance. Can be removed in later stage of life. But colon is one of the important route for defecation. If removed patient will have some hardship. But no problem with normal living.
4 :
colon is storage house for feces..and prostate is for semen one can live without these two organs.. obviously there r bad effects on the body but he can survive,,,,
5 :
Hello, The main problem isn't where a primary cancer is found to be. The problem is metastasis. The cancer cells spread to other organs/tissues in the body. Colon cancer kills not by necessitating a bowel resection. It kills by spreading to all other organs in the GI tract. The organs of your GI tract all share a rich exchange of blood flow. That's how those organs function. It's similar w/the prostate. You don't need a prostate to live. Once prostatic ca turns metastatic, though. Bad news. Changes in life styles, & diets not withstanding, men don't like to be physically checked for either of these cancers. The scope feels like it's 22 feet long, & I don't like someone's finger crammed up my rectum. These reasons are why many men die from these cancers.
