Possibly until he is 100! Prostrate cancer is a slow growing, slow spreading cancer. Often if it is diagnosed in the 70's it is left untreated as the patient is likely to die of unrelated age related causes before the prostrate cancer becomes a problem. Lots of love and support needed while he is going through his treatment but he has an excellent prognosis.

If your father takes regularly selenium, accept the doctor's advice, avoids unnecessary surgery he can live tens of years.

sometimes it can be cured if caught early. my hubby had it and he lasted quite awhile. its just what you are doing. i think maybe we didn't do the right things. chemo for it is teh best way. they can plant a seed in and stuff and it can work to. but i think it could cure him if hes not too late what is his psa? they say it does not matter but it does . if its 7 maybe too late i am not sure but i would talk to uroligist.
