Why don't people care about prostate cancer

Why don't people care about prostate cancer?
At my school everyone always wears pink and stuff for breast cancer but no one cares about prostate cancer or other cancers. Is it cause men are less important than females.

I understand your point. It seems like breast cancer gets a lot more attention than anything else. I definitely support prostate cancer awareness. My dad had it and is finally free of it. Maybe you should start supporting a cancer that's important to you and other will catch on.

Probly because more women are affected by breast canser than men are with prostate cancer. Or cuz you can see a missing boob you cant see a missing ball ? idk

No they're not less important. There are many forms of cancer. Breast cancer has gotten huge research funding and awareness because it effects so many women and men, yes men. It can be totally curable if detected early. Any kind of cancer awarness is good for all types.

Yes, there's a definite inclination in our society to view men as "more disposable" than women. As men, we need to devote more of our attention and resources to solving problems like prostate cancer. A fair balance would be nice. However, it's in our nature to give our women all the best things and devote excess resources to them, because it's instinctive to protect them first. At the same time, I'm kinda' tired of the ever increasing trend to view men as somehow unworthy or even inferior. We've been saddled with the blame for all that is evil in the world, unjustly. The women have been there, the whole time. They are our partners in life, on this planet, and need to shoulder their share of the responsibility. That would go a long way towards fixing some of the problems we face. The women of today should remember that we men are composed of 90% ego. A simple kind word from a woman will make us work wonders and/or miracles. Think twice before you puncture our fragile egos with harsh words. The only reason we get out of bed every morning is to impress women. Tell us we're special and that you don't want us to die of prostate cancer and we'll give you the world. But I've gotten off track. Yes, let's pay more attention to prostate cancer. Now, go take your saw palmetto tablets like a good boy. Thanks for the insightful question. EDIT: Hmm. Tisha. Ok, you're not a boy. Ask the important men in your life to take their saw palmetto tablets. Thanks for caring.

I know! My brother is a childhood cancer survivor and no one gives a **** about the other cancers. NOthing against breast cancer but the awareness needs to be spread equally

I totally understand what your saying. Its not because men are less important than females. I have ovarian cancer & leukemia that has spread to my brain, lungs, spine and neck. Ovarian cancer is completely overlooked, along with prostate, colon cancer, well most cancers for that matter. The only way to change it is to do something about it. There should be a local American Cancer Society center in your area, they will help you get awareness in your school, etc. I know how you feel. October kind of aggravates me with all the pink everywhere, although its great its not the only cancer, and the only thing to do is try and help get awareness out about the cancer that has affected you.

Breast cancer has a high priority because of the hard work and determination of a growing group of women to promote awareness. All cancers are impoortant, all cancer patients deserve our support, but if other cancers are to get the same profile, it needs people willing to put in the effort to create the awareness.

People do care about prostate cancer. It is a lot closer to being cured than breast cancer is. The vaccine for prostate cancer is due on the market in the next 2-4 months.
