Prostate ca is generally curable when it is localised with most patients living another ten years. Even when disease has metastasised it has a better prognosis than other malignancies with most living long periods of time to the tune of two-three years and more

Early stage diagnosis with advanced radical resection with minimal morbidity and mortality has improved survival and prognosis. Only need is Surgical expertise. Your friend is relatively young and should go for radical surgery at good center. You need to help him.

Prostate cancer is not almost always curable in most cases men die with the disease, but not from the disease as it is usually slow growing. The only chance for cure is to have the prostate removed. Your friend is very young for prostate cancer only about 1% occurs at 45 years old and younger people tend to have more aggressive disease. Without knowing the grade, the stage or what treatment was given it is impossible to give you a better answer. Dr.Gagan Saini is clearly no doctor.
